Select the games you use carefully.
The dyslexic learner will probably process information more slowly than his peers. Some games have to be completed in a set time, avoid these if you find the student is unable to process the information quickly enough to make a correct response.
Too much graphic movement in a game can distract some learners from the task in hand. Avoid these games if you think they may be causing the learner to lose focus.
Dyslexic students like time to think, choose games that do not move on too quickly.
Woodlands School Site
Woodlands School Site is a brilliant resource for teachers, parents and children. Teachers can use it in the classroom, and children can use it at home to practice things they have learnt at school.
At present most of the games on this site are links to other sites. These games have been written for dyslexic and non dyslexic children. Not all the games on these sites are suitable for dyslexic students.
Look out for Dyslexia House games as we add them to the site; they will be followed by the letters DH. Dyslexia House takes no creative credit for any of the other activities or links on this site.
