Listening Books

Audio Books

Audio BooksStudents that find independent reading difficult should still have the pleasure of reading the same books as their peers, there is a good selection of audio books on the market.

Audio books can be borrowed from the library and there are several charities that produce audio books for people who have difficulty reading. See the list below.

Listening Books now offer a download service.

You can choose from over 1000 audiobooks to download to any PC, iPod or other portable device, and a small selection are also Mac compatible. This means that you can now take your audiobooks wherever you go.

Gutenberg Project A dyslexic student can download books from the Gutenberg Project. These electronic books are not computer books or audio books but they can be read outloud if you use a text reader. This will not of course be like listening to a audio book, but at least the student can access the text.

Seeing Ear Charity

The Seeing Ear On Line Library provides books in electronic text format for download by registered members of the Library. These books in electronic text format are not computer books or audio books but they can be read outloud if you use a text reader.

You can apply to be a member if you are visually impaired or dyslexic and you live in the UK or the EU.
