Reading Aids

There are some useful reading aids on the market.

Tracking

Reading AidDyslexic students often have tracking problems, which means they may lose their place within a line or a paragraph of text. There are some excellent coloured reading rulers on the market, which enable the student to follow the text line by line.

Visual Stress

Coloured reading rulers were designed to help people that have visual stress. People with visual stress find it hard to read black print on white paper as the words seem to shiver and move. The coloured overlays reduce stress and make the text easier to read. There are ten coloured reading rulers in a pack, they are the colours which research has found to be the most frequently beneficial.

There is also a virtual reading ruler that can be used on a computer screen.

Text Readers

Text Readers can be used to help students access information, enabling them to read emails and web pages. Worksheets can also be scanned into word documents and a text reader used to read them.

Go to the Text Reader page for more information.
