Spelling

Difficulty with spelling is usually a life long problem for the dyslexic person, but with computer spell checks and hand held spell checkers producing written work is now less stressful.

Students still have to produce hand written work, however, so anything teachers can do to make spelling easier and more memorable the better.

Using a good multi-sensory phonic programme with your students is the best way forward: programs such as Synthetic Phonics, Jolly Phonics and Alpha To Omega.

Irregular spellings should be made memorable and fun.
