Tables Page

Dyslexic students often find learning tables difficult because they find sequencing difficult and often lose their place when reciting tables.

Teach tables as individual number facts.

When learning tables it is a good idea for the student to learn to fill out a tables square. This can then be used by the child when doing multiplication and division sums thus reducing the strain on the students short term memory. If they can learn to do this quickly it can be used in tests.

If the tables square is colour coded it makes it even easier to use.

Make the individual number facts as memorable as possible.

8 x 8 = 64

8 x 8 I ate and I ate and was sick on the floor 64

Use the finger method to teach the 9 times tables.
