What
is being dyslexia-friendly?
Being dyslexia-friendly
is a commitment to actively use strategies and practices known to enable
individuals acheive thier full potential. These practices re indicative
of an inclusive ethos and recognise the value of each individual's talent
and differences. In schools and colleges, dyslexia-friendly practices
help all pupils and students towards achieving their true potential.
What
is the Dyslexia-Friendly Schools Support Project?
This project,
now in its 3rd year, has been developed by the Medway Dyslexia Association,
with funding from the Children's Fund Medway, to raise awareness of dyslexia
and provide support and training in schools. One of the aims of the project
is to help dyslexic pupils have their difficulties recognised and needs
addressed before they slip onto the slope of failure, insecurity and increasingly
poor self-esteem and confidence.
