Assessments

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist assessments:

  • Early Screening from 4 years 6 months
  • Full diagnostic assessment from 7 years upwards
  • Assessments for concessions for public examinations including GCSE and A Level
  • Assessments that are accepted by Medway LEA with regard to Disabled Students Allowance
  • Adult assessment.

Dyslexia-friendly Schools

Dyslexia-friendly schools are schools that:

  • Recognise dyslexia and actively support all pupils.
  • Engage in dyslexia-friendly practice across the whole curriculum.
  • Ensure that being dyslexia-friendly underpins the philosophy of the school.
  • Have a specialist dyslexia teacher.
  • Engage in regular and ongoing training for all staff.

Befriending and Helpline Services

Free training is offered to volunteers who are members of the Association, wishing to help in these areas. Befrienders offer their services as voluntary, independent mediators for schools, parents and pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties at School Action, School Action Plus , Formal Assessment and Statemented levels.

The Helpline runs Monday - Friday 9am - 4pm.

Resource Centre

The Association has a growing resource centre which is available for use by Association members and teachers/tutors from establishments signed up to the Dyslexia-Friendly Project.

Resources include:

  • Teaching resources, books, learning aids and games
  • Academic texts
  • Software
  • Internet access

Volunteers

We have a number of volunteers who are in involved in a number of ways, from manning the resource centre, supplying bottles for the tombola or working on the Helpline to Befriending, cake baking or attending fundraising events.
